February TBR

Hello! I’m not quite sure how we’re already a month into 2021, but I’m excited to share what I’m planning to read this February. Of course, I’m only sharing the sapphic books on this month’s list, so it’s very short at just three books. However, all three are ARCs and I can hardly wait to read each one!

She’s Too Pretty to Burn
by Wendy Heard
Henry Holt and Co.
YA Thriller
Expected Publication: March 30, 2021
“The summer is winding down in San Diego. Veronica is bored, caustically charismatic, and uninspired in her photography. Nico is insatiable, subversive, and obsessed with chaotic performance art. They’re artists first, best friends second. But that was before Mick. Delicate, lonely, magnetic Mick: the perfect subject, and Veronica’s dream girl. The days are long and hot―full of adventure―and soon they are falling in love. Falling so hard, they never imagine what comes next. One fire. Two murders. Three drowning bodies. One suspect . . . one stalker. This is a summer they won’t survive.
Y’all… This is apparently inspired by The Picture of Dorian Gray!! How can I not be excited?

by Heather Walter
Del Rey
YA Fantasy/Retelling
Expected Publication: April 13, 2021
“A princess isn’t supposed to fall for an evil sorceress. But in this darkly magical retelling of ‘Sleeping Beauty,’ true love is more than a simple fairy tale.
We did it. We’re getting sapphic fairy tale retellings!!

These Feathered Flames
(These Feathered Flames #1)
by Alexandra Overy
Inkyard Press
YA Fantasy
Expected Publication: April 20, 2021
“A queer retelling of ‘The Firebird,’ a Russian folktale.”
If there’s one thing college has instilled in me, it’s an appreciation for Russian folktales and fairy tales in general. English majors really are like that. Either way, I’m thrilled to see all these sapphic retellings!

What are you planning on reading this month? And if you have any recommendations, send them my way!
